Energy Auditor Training
BPI Certification Exams
This course teaches students the fundamentals of building science, important safety checks, and how to perform full residential energy audits. Four days of intense training are split between three days in the classroom and a full day of hands-on field training. BPI Building Analyst Certification tests (both written and field) are included. Students have the option of completing the course and taking the exams all in the same week, or returning at a later date to complete the exams. Class size is limited to 15 because one-on-one interaction with the instructor is critical. Students completing this course often become energy auditors, HERS raters, and home performance contractors.

Basic Electrical
This course is designed for those who want a basic understanding of electricity and how it is applied in HVAC industry. It will cover basic circuitry and components such as relays, transformers, switches, and loads. If time permits some trouble shooting techniques and wiring schematics will be discussed. Multi Meters are welcome but not a necessity.

Lochinvar WHN Training
This course is designed for those who want to understand the features and benefits of Lochinvar’s new WHN wall-mounted, fire-tube design. This boiler reaches the 96% A.F.U.E. rating and is eligible for National Grid’s $1,500 rebate. Come and see what this boiler can do for your business.

Basic Hydronics
This course is designed for those who want a basic understanding of Hydronics design. It will cover topics such as heat load calculations(what and why), circulator and piping sizing, fill pressure, flow rates, boiler types and sizing.

Advanced Hydronics
This course is designed for those who want to learn more about condensing boilers, primary /secondary piping, hydraulic separation, radiant and snow melt design rules. We will discuss how a buffer tank and proper controls can help minimize short cycling.

Tekmar Controls Basic
This course is designed for those who want to learn more about Tekmar reset, mixing, boiler, and setpoint controls. It will cover in some detail TK260- Boiler reset control, TK360, TK363- mixing controls, TK150- set point control, TK264, TK265- boiler staging standard and modulating and TK374- boiler, dhw,2 mixing control. We will also spend some time understanding the new tN2 2-wire rest
controls utilizing indoor feedback.

Basic A/C Superheat & Subcooling
This course is designed for those who want to learn more about Principles of Air Conditioning. It will cover the basic refrigeration cycle components and their roles, heat transfer, refrigeration Temperature and Pressure relationships and how Superheat and Subcooling are used to determine proper charge.

Basic Geothermal Design
This course will focus on piping and design of geothermal system components, open vs. closed wells, indoor equipment selection, C.O.P.’s, chilled water vs. condenser loop applications and VFD system pumping.

Solar Training
This course will cover topics of Thermal solar, how and why it works, collector types- flat plate vs. evacuated tube. What information is needed during site survey, criteria for DHW, piping applications and examples. SRCC ratings- how to read them and a review of the Capco Solar Handbook.

Day 1 - Carbon Monoxide Safety Testing & Diagnostics - $245

Day 2 - Combustion Performance & Diagnostics - $395

Continue to build on our CO safety testing to combustion efficiency. Learn the benefits of our performancebased procedures versus standard service calls. Through our hands-on combustion field testing and proper efficiency tuning you will be equipped to comprehend and explain system performance to your customers. You will leave this class with the ability to make proper fuel and air adjustments, mechanical repairs and provide a complete home inspection above and beyond your competition. This hands-on training will provide you with tools and knowledge you need to deliver true energy efficiency and performance. This class is a pre-requisite to Day 3

Day 3 - CO/Combustion Certification & Review - $195

To conclude, Day 3 reviews everything you have learned concerning CO safety and combustion performance. You will continue the hands-on combustion testing and end the day with the Combustion Analysist Certification exam. Both Day 1 and Day 2 must be successfully completed to enroll in this class.
